If you're a championship tournament caster you might be willing to spend $400+ for a surf rod but for fishing and whooping the bug ones this rod can't be beat for the price. I have fished them hard for about 3 years and the only wear and year is the guides have a little green discoloration from the saltwater. The 12 ft has also handled a 7 ft Bull Shark and a 5 ft diameter Stingray.

They cast like a dream I routinely get 170 to 200 yard casts out of the 12 ft rods and 140 to 175 yards from the 10 ft rods.īoth have taken multiple 40 inch plus Redfish and Black Drum with ease. The 12 ft rods have Shimano Torium 30s on them and the 10 ft have ABU 7000 reels. I only have the spinning rods for people who come fishing with me as they don't have to learn to cast a multffiplier.
It aids with achievement of a good surf heave rather than a snap cast. To began with the rod is a little heavy but that's ok. I also have two 10 ft casting rods and a 10 ft spinning surf rod. I have four of these in 12 ft heavy casting and 1 of the 12 ft Spin Surf Rods.
